Bob Adams is the President of HDAdvisors, a firm that provides a range consulting services to non-profit, for profit and public sector clients. Among his current clients, Bob serves as a technical advisor to Virginia Community Capital – assisting non-profits and local governments in developing viable community development projects. Bob also provides staff leadership for Housing Virginia – a statewide non-profit organization that works to advance affordable housing through education and policy development.
Formerly, Mr. Adams was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Community Housing Partners Corporation. Mr. Adams was the President of the National Low Income Housing Coalition in Washington, DC. Mr. Adams also served as the Deputy Director for Housing at the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. In that capacity, he oversaw the development and operation of a wide variety of state and federal housing programs, including the Virginia Housing Partnership Fund. Mr. Adams is a graduate of Yale University and holds a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from VCU.
Lynn Bivens has specialized in fund development for affordable housing organizations for the last several years, with a focus on grant writing and corporate fund development for local and statewide nonprofit organizations.
Lynn received a Certificate of Achievement in Non-Profit Management from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2008, and is a member of the Grant Professionals Association, Central VA Chapter, and the Virginia Association of Fundraising Executives.
Before working in the nonprofit sector, Lynn worked in advertising, assisting clients with campaign development and securing vendor funding for advertising programs.
Jonathan Knopf is the Senior Associate for Research and Programs at HDAdvisors, providing data collection and analysis for affordable housing non-profits across Virginia. He specializes in using GIS to create static and interactive maps that help tell the story of housing needs throughout the state. Jonathan has a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he also earned undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Environmental Studies. He is a Richmond native, and volunteers with the Maymont Foundation to help build a GIS platform for their historic estate and arboretum.
Alise Newman joined HDAdvisors in July 2013 to help with updating the website, social media outreach, newsletter publication, and creating printed materials. She has expanded her scope to include broader media outreach and communications strategies.
Before coming to HDAdvisors, Alise worked in the Public Relations Department of Pasona Group Inc., Japan’s third-largest temporary staffing and human resource agency. She worked with Japanese and English-language media outlets to increase the company’s global presence from mid-2011 to late 2012.
Alise holds a bachelor’s degree in Japanese Language, Literature and Culture from the University of Virginia.
Alice Tousignant began working with HDAdvisors after retiring as the executive director of Virginia Supportive Housing. Alice provides advocacy related to State and national affordable housing and homelessness policy and funding. She also provides technical assistance to non-profit organizations on fundraising, including grant-writing and Board development, and on homelessness policy and programs. Alice also provides administrative support to HDAdvisors.
Alice holds a Masters of Social Work in Administration and Planning from VCU and a Bachelors degree in Sociology from the University of R. I. She was the executive director of Virginia Supportive Housing, a statewide non-profit that ends homelessness by providing permanent housing and supportive services. Alice was also the director of the Virginia Housing Coalition, was a Planning and Facilitation Consultant and served as the Associate Director of Housing at the VA Department of Housing and Community Development where she was responsible for implementing the state and federal homeless programs.
